CLICK TO VIEWMichelle Arseneau, Managing Partner at GX, was one of 7 panelists featured in a shipper/carrier roundtable discussion at the 2016 Surface Transportation Summit. Moderated by Lou Smyrlis of NewCom Business Media, the candid discussion covered topics including the ongoing driver shortage, ELD legislation, Western Canada dynamics and a host of other topics.
The panel consisted of shippers Pepsico Foods and Glencore Canada with carrier and 3PL representation from across the country. The pending mandatory implementation of ELDs (Electronic Logging Devices) was a prominent topic throughout the conference. It is projected that carriers without the resources to comply with this new regulation may consider exiting the industry, causing capacity issues and possibly raising rates on both sides of the border.
GX was an early adopter of ELD technology and Michelle Arseneau shared her experience with the panel and the 400 industry people attending the October conference. “the initial resistance from all drivers has been replaced with a genuine appreciation for the ELD’s performance enhancing abilities allowing them to do their jobs better and with greater ease.”
